Vaccination Guidelines

vaccination

Vaccinations are extremely important and help to protect your pet against potentially life threatening diseases. They can be broken down into two categories, core and non-core vaccinations. Core vaccines are recommended for all pets regardless of lifestyle. Non-core vaccinations are recommended for pets with a lifestyle that may expose them to additional diseases. Feel free to ask one of our technicians for more information.

DOGS

CORE VACCINES: DISTemper/adeno/parvo (DHPP), rabies

NON-CORE VACCINES: bordetella (kennel cough), canine influenza (h3n2/h3n8), leptospirosos

All puppies should start a vaccinations series beginning at approximately 8 weeks of age. Your dog should be vaccinated every 3-4 weeks until it has received its last vaccination after 4 months of age.

Additional vaccinations may be recommended if you intend to take your pet to dog parks, groomers, or if your pet may need to be boarded at a boarding facility.

Dogs starting their vaccinations after 4 months of age or with unknown vaccination history should receive both a primary vaccination followed by a booster after 3-4 weeks. The booster vaccination lasts for 1 year.

Cats
