Vaccines
Vaccinations are one of the most important preventative care services we can provide our pets. They prevent and reduce the severity of life-threatening diseases and can save your pets’ life. Regardless of your pets age, it is imperative they receive their appropriate vaccinations on time.
Flea, Tick & Heartworm Prevention
Flea and tick prevention is important to your pet’s health. At The Pet Advocate, we focus on keeping preventative medications affordable and accessible so your pet can receive the medications it needs right away. Remember, there is no exam/office fee for healthy pet services.
Your puppy may start flea/tick prevention as early as 6 weeks of age and your kitten may start as early as 8 weeks of age. The products we carry are listed below.
Cats: Revolution plus
Dogs: Bravecto and Simparica
Heartworm Prevention: Proheart 6 and Iverhart max
Microchip
A microchip is a small radio ID chip with a unique one-of-a-kind number that is linked to your contact information. This chip is as small as a grain of rice and is placed under the skin. A recent national study indicated that lost pets with microchips were twice as likely to be reunited with their owner as those without microchips. While a microchip can be placed at any time, we recommend having it placed during your pets spay/neuter procedure.
Deworming
Intestinal parasites (worms) are common among our pets. Some of these parasites that our pets may carry can be transmitted to people. It is important we treat all puppies, kittens and adult cats and dogs for intestinal parasites for both our health and theirs.
Recommendations:
Treat all puppies and kittens for worms (regardless if you see worms) at least twice or each time they are vaccinated.
Treat all adult pets once annually or at the time they are vaccinated each year.
Nail Trim
Our experienced technicians will trim your pets nails so they are comfortable and ready to take on their daily exercise! Some pets require nail trims more often than others. Bring your pet in today so we can recommend an appropriate nail trimming specific to your pet.
Anal Gland Expression
Anal glands are normally expressed when your pet goes to the bathroom. However, some dogs need to have the glands expressed routinely. Signs that indicate your pet may need an expression include scooting, chewing near its rear, and a foul odor.
